4 Days of Awesome

(back-dated from 5/12/2010)

Mr. Man and I went on the most amazing trip this last weekend! He took Friday and Monday off, and we packed our bags and headed to Roseville, CA! The setting was perfect... 80 degree weather, Mr. Man in shorts, me in a purple tank top and flip flops (and pants, gettchur head outta the gutter!!) The plans were exciting... The Larkspur Landing Hotel, Bayside Church (including Ray Johnston and Lincoln BrewsterThe Dead Sea Scrolls, and Chick-Fil-A!
P.S. the links I've set up for you here - consider them a total RECOMMEND!

All this.... and I was sick. Hardly said 10 words the whole trip, simply because of the fact that I had no voice with which to speak. Snot, however, I had in abundance. Oh, and a plugged-up ear. Oh yeah. Thanks. It was great. No really, I mean - even with the being sick and dizzy part (especially through the DSS exhibit) it was awesome. Bayside is massive! Lincoln Brewster was incredible, it was like being in the 3rd/center (yes I said THIRD) row at a concert that I didn't have to pay for. I would have taken pictures, but since it was during service, I didn't think it was appropriate. We ate Chick-Fil-A twice in one day... since we don't have one within 2 hours drive of here, we kinda go overboard when we can get it. The hotel was wonderful, I can't tell you to go there when you travel enough - it's worth it! Oh and if you DO go .. bring me back the body soaps and lotions, oh, and the shampoos & conditioners too - seriously. They are the best I've ever seen and I want more!

Root Nacks

This morning, just like every other morning, Da Boy asked for "root nacks". He loves his fruit snacks... any brand will do, but he likes the walmart generic ones the best (they have smiley faces!) So I was checking my facebook, and chatting with Loue, when Da Boy asked if I'd take a picture of his fruit snacks. So, yeah ok, why not? I grab the camera and here we go...

Fruit Snacks!

I wan dis one!

And after the purple one he went for the red one, I shot this pic, and went back to the computer to load the pics. I hear him run down the hall. Then silence.
Then...

a gigantic sneeze!

"Mom!! I need a nakin!"

I grab a napkin and run for it, he's standing in the hall with one hand over his nose and mouth. I look closer and there's red gummy bits of fruit snack on my wall, my carpet, and my son's face. I hand him the napkin and go back for the camera.

You see that spot on the carpet? Yeeeaaaahh. Snot and fruit snack.  *shudders*

Back on the Mucus Merry-go-round

Well, I knew it was going to happen. Last week at work, there was a little boy, Simon, who was all snotty and cranky and coughing, and I took one look at him and I just knew I was gonna get it.

So here we are. Mr. Man, Da Boy, and I. Back on the mucus merry-go-round. Full-time workers at the snot factory. At 4:30 this morning Da Boy comes in our bedroom, goes to Mr. Man's side of the bed and say's...

Daddy, daddy?

I hear a low groan beside me sounds like "whhhaaaaaaaa"

Daddy, I has a issue! (and he points to his nose)

You have an issue? Huh?

I has an issue? Teeeease? (pointing emphatically at his face, with slime running into his mouth)

Poor guy, I really feel bad for him, both of them actually. Mr. Man has to work, so he's out there in the cold bringing home the bacon, while Da Boy and I sit here sniffing and snuffling, playing Cars bingo and being warm.

So, today I get to email the couples in our growth group and cancel the group meeting at our house on Sunday. There's no way I'm letting 2 families in here to get sick. Don't get me wrong, sharing is good, just not this kind.
